It started in 1926.

In 1926 Klaas Kloosterboer started a trading business in vegetables and fruit in Saint-Pancras. Soon after, he became engaged in the export of potatoes, vegetables and fruit. In 1961 he opened a small freezing establishment at Elst. Four years later, a larger establishment was set up in Etten-Leur. This was expanded multiple times over the years.

At the end of the eighties the Etten-Leur site became an independent company, adding Nemijtek Vrieshuizen in Breda. This evolution gave Vriesveem a clear advantage as far as capacity and flexibility are concerned.
